ARRIVAL

• If you want to stay at Võru sports school, make a respective note upon registration. The price is 5 EUR per place. NB! Bring your own sleeping bag and sleeping mat!
• It is possible to make tea and coffee at Võru sports school. (Bring your own food and water heater.)
• It is not possible to pay for the accommodation on site.

START

COURSE

• There are certain time limits for reaching each control point, teams that exceed these time limits will be called off the course. These time limits are as follows:

• The organizers have the right to shorten the course if necessary.
• At the KPTs and at the finish the competitors will be given: soup, sports drink, water, buns, bread, salt and cookies.
• We recommend the competitors to take some food on the course in addition to the food given by the organizers. Take something like raisins, nuts, energy bars and drinks.
  

  FINISH

• Finish is situated 280m downstream of the Võõpsu highway bridge, on the left bank of the river Võhandu, at Võõpsu boat harbor.
  
  
• At night time the finish will be marked by a flashing orange light on the left bank of the river Võhandu.
• The competition centre, catering, car park and camping ground are approx. 300m from the finish, on Võõpsu stadium.
  
  
• The competitors will be given soup, sports drink, water, buns, bread, salt and cookies.
• It is not allowed to enter the finish area by car.
• Cars must be parked at the car park.
• Organizers will help the teams transport their boats to the competition centre.
• It is estimated that the winners will be at the finish at 17:00, approx. 10 hours after the start.
• The last teams will reach the finish at night. (In 2009 the last team finished at 1:30, 19 hours after the start.)
• Please use a supporting vehicle, so that you have people who help you on the course and have the necessary equipment at KPs (food, drink, dry clothes, medicine case) NB! After racing for at least 10 hours it is not advised to drive a car by yourself. It's better to have a proper rest in Võõpsu before home journey.
  

  QUITTING

• If you want to quit, do it at a KP.
• When you quit, definitely inform the organizers at the KP of your action.
• NB! The organizers do not transport the teams from the place of quitting to the finish. Please use your supporting vehicles.
  

  TIMETAKING

• The organizers will mark your times at the start, at KPs and at the finish.
• In order to get a result, the numbers must be visible throughout the marathon.
• The results will be posted on the Internet.
• It will be possible for all fans to follow the competition on-line on the website www.vohandumaraton.ee
  

  RULES

  
  
• It is compulsory to wear a life jacket. All competitors without a life jacket will be disqualified.
• We recommend wearing a helmet.
• Be careful when passing dams at mills (strong current, rocks) and be careful at night (tree branches, trees in the water). We recommend using headlamps, at least one per boat.
• It is not allowed to carry a boat over an oxbow (i.e. shortcutting is not allowed). All wrongdoers will be disqualified.
  

  COMPULSORY EQUIPMENT ON THE BOAT

  
  
• Waterproofed cell phone with the organizers' phone numbers.
• Headlamps (at least one per boat).
• Pocket knife (at least one per boat).
• Cord, approx. 5m.
  

  RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT

  
  
• Dry clothes (waterproofed).
• Items necessary to light a fire.
• Food and drink.
  

  COMPETITOR'S RESPONSIBILITY

  
  
• Competing on such a long course will be both physically and mentally challenging. All competitors are solely responsible for their actions and competing on this course. All competitors must know that the organizers are not responsible for possible injuries, traumas, deaths.
• All competitors have to study possible risks and sign an affirmation of having done so upon getting start materials.
• All competitors are solely responsible for their safety and the maintenance of their equipment.
  

  NB!

  
  
• Bring a small medicine case (bandage, plaster, painkillers etc.).
• The local border guard, ambulance and lifesaving service have been informed of the competition.
• Help people on the course if it is necessary!
• If someone is in need of help, note the time of the incident and the number of the team, remember the place of the incident and inform the organizers at the next KP.
• In case of a serious incident, call the emergency telephone number 112 as well as inform the organizers.
  

  PRIZEGIVING

  
  
• Prizes will be given to the three best in overall ranking and to the best in each category.
• All competitors will be given a diploma.
• Prize giving and handing out diplomas will take place one hour after the finish of the team.
• The company TAHE KAYAKS OÜ ja EASTPOLE OÜ have provided the main lottery prize: a kayak LIFESTYLE 550 with extra equipment with the value of 1000 euros.
  
• The lottery prizes will be given out at the finish, all registered competitors will be included in the lottery.
